As families prepare for the 2022-2023 school year to start, Geary County Schools USD 475 provides the following updates and answers to recent questions.

The first day of school for USD 475 students in grades 1-12 is a half-day on August 16. Early Childhood and Kindergarten students will start with a full day on August 19. Start and dismissal times vary and are on the district website. No breakfast or lunch will be served that day.

Student enrollment is available online through Skyward Family Access, which is accessible on the district website. Parents and guardians are encouraged to enroll online by August 1 to support district planning. They may also enroll in person at their schools during Open Enrollment from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. August 4.

The free and reduced-price meals application will be available as part of the enrollment process starting Monday, July 18. For students already enrolled, guardians must return to their enrollment in Skyward to submit the application. Hard copies will also be available at the Devin Center.

Text message alerts will be available free of charge to parents and guardians through SchoolMessenger. They must opt in by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587, or by responding “Yes” when they receive a text message from the school district around August 8. More information will be shared soon.

School supply lists vary by school and are available on the district website.

Some students are eligible for busing to and from school. Information is on the Transportation webpage.
