Kansas State University’s men’s golf team is currently in 14th place after two rounds at the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, South Carolina. The Wildcats recorded a combined score of 10-over par 586 on Monday at the Pete Dye Course of the Colleton River Plantation Club.

K-State trails Indiana by one stroke for 13th place, following a morning round of 7-over par 295 and an afternoon round of 3-over par 291.

Freshman Ville Virkkala led the team’s scoring lineup and is tied for 24th overall with an even-par total of 144. Virkkala opened with a round of 1-under par 71, making four birdies in the morning before posting a second-round score of 1-over par 73.

Virkkala shares his position with senior Shea Harmeson, who is competing as an individual. Harmeson shot a morning round of 3-over par 75 followed by a strong afternoon performance with a score of 3-under par 69. “Starting on No. 10, Harmeson’s second-round performance featured five birdies over the first nine holes, while he also carded an eagle on the par-5 second,” according to k-statesports.com.

Senior JP Roller sits tied for 50th at four-over-par (148), after matching four birdies with four bogeys during his even-par opening round but was unable to maintain that momentum in the afternoon.

Senior Alex Lindstrom and sophomore Fionn Dobbin are both one shot behind Roller and tied for 61st place at five-over-par (149). Dobbin rebounded from a six-over first round by shooting one-under-par (71) in the afternoon. Beginning on No.9, Dobbin was two over through ten holes but finished bogey-free and three under for his fourth under-par round this season.

Freshman Oliver Toyer enters Monday’s final round tied for 68th at six-over-par (150).

The team competition is currently led by Kentucky, ranked No.50 nationally, which holds a narrow one-shot lead over Ohio State at twelve-under-par (564). Individually, Kentucky’s Jack Schoenberger and Iowa’s Ryan Shellberg share the top spot at seven-under-par (137).

The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday. Live results are available through SCOREBOARD powered by Clippd.
