WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) has taken a firm stand against what he describes as reckless government spending. In a recent vote, Rep. Mann opposed the Further Additional Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act, which aimed to extend funding levels from a previous $1.7 trillion spending bill until March 2023.
“Kansans are rightfully concerned about America’s rising national debt and are tired of the reckless government spending that is contributing to it,” expressed Rep. Mann. “America is $34 trillion in debt, and we cannot afford to pass another continuing resolution as a band-aid. I remain committed to reducing and reprioritizing federal government spending, securing the southern border, and ending the weaponization of the federal government. Congress needs to stop kicking the can down the road, address the situation, return to regular order, and pass 12 individual appropriation bills.”
Despite Rep. Mann’s opposition, the Senate amendment to H.R. 2872, which included the extension of funding levels, passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 314-108. The bill will now be sent to President Biden for his signature.
This is not the first time Rep. Mann has voted against similar legislation. On November 14, 2023, he voted against H.R. 6363, the Furthering Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act. Additionally, on September 30, 2023, Rep. Mann voted against H.R. 5860, the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2024, and Other Extensions Act.
