Pottawatomie County ranked sixth among counties in Kansas by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Pottawatomie County residents was $32,491 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 8,695 households with a population of 23,545.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Johnson County with $41,425 per year after adjusting for inflation – $8,934 more than Pottawatomie County. It had 226,242 households with a population of 585,502.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Elk County with $21,067 per year after adjusting for inflation – $11,424 less than Pottawatomie County. It had 1,117 households with a population of 2,562.
