Position Summary:

We are hiring for a customer-focused, quality assurance-driven, and collaborative Dispatch Supervisor to join our team! The ideal candidate will be able to learn company technologies quickly, be an effective communicator, and have a passion to be a team lead to a staff of four dispatchers. The Dispatch Supervisor position is an entry-level management role focused on ensuring the team provides the highest customer service experience. Additionally, this role is focused on overseeing the performance of fixed routes, ADA paratransit, and general demand response public transportation.

What you will be doing:

Supervise a Team:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision to the Dispatch department by creating and managing work schedules and organizing the team’s workload to meet deadlines.
  • Review and assess the ongoing performance of team members by identifying strengths and interests to delegate work effectively; and provide training, coaching, and corrective action as needed.
  • Manage department goals and ensure staffing aligns with business needs.
  • Demonstrate a personal sense of continuous improvement, professional standards, and accountability as an example to the Dispatch team.
Technology:

  • Maintain data integrity in the dispatching program by running reports and reviewing them for accuracy.
  • Give insight into the data in the dispatching program by responding to questions about the data and identifying and resolving differences.
  • Operate various communications equipment, including two-way radio, telephone, computer-aided dispatching, and automatic vehicle location systems (CAD/AVL).
Customer-Focus:

  • Resolve and respond to escalated customer and team inquiries and complaints promptly.
  • Effectively and regularly communicate with the Dispatch team, Bus Operators, Mechanics, passengers, and the public.
  • Build trusting and collaborative relationships with internal teams and customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • Two years of work experience or extensive school or community involvement while obtaining a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong desire to learn technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:

(You will be considered for this position without these qualifications)

Experience managing a team.

Experience with CAD/AVL software.

Knowledge of the streets of Manhattan and Junction City, KS; the general layout of Riley, Geary and western Pottawatomie County.

Demonstrated proficiency in researching, analyzing, and resolving various problems.

  • Compensation Range: $39,500 - $45,000 annually, depending on your skills and experience.
