Will Shields was born on September 15, 1971, at Fort Riley, Kansas. He later moved to Oklahoma, where he attended high school. He played college football at the University of Nebraska and won the Outland Trophy in 1992. Shields was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993. He played 14 seasons with the team and never missed a game. He was selected to 12 Pro Bowls and named to the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team. Shields was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015. Known for his consistency and strength on the offensive line, he also received the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2003 for his work off the field.
