Tracey Mann, a U.S. Congressman representing Kansas’s 1st district since 2021, has used his social media platform to comment on the recent federal government shutdown and its political implications.
On October 2, 2025, Mann criticized Democratic leadership in Washington for their role in the shutdown, writing, "The decision to shut down the federal government by Democrat leadership in Washington, D.C. is nothing more than political theatre, and everyday Americans will be the ones who pay the price for it." He further directed followers to additional commentary on his views regarding Democrats’ actions during the shutdown.
Continuing his critique the following day, Mann posted on October 3, 2025: "President Trump and Congressional Republicans supported a clean, non-partisan continuing resolution. The vast majority of Democrats chose to vote against it, shutting down the government and demanding that Congressional Republicans add $1.5 trillion in new spending for overseas". Later that same day he shared another post linking to an external site: "https://t.co/gr6ibeT1GB".
Tracey Mann has represented Kansas’s 1st District since replacing Roger Marshall in Congress in 2021. Born in Quinter, Kansas in 1976 and currently residing in Salina, Mann graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000.
