Women Fall, Men Win Against Labette Community College

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, Highland Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted Labette County Community College at Ben Allen Field House.

The Scottie women led after one quarter, but trailed at the half, 23-25. Labette dominated the third quarter outscoring Highland, 25-11. HCC’s women couldn’t overcome the deficit and fell, 47-65. The Scottie women scored 18-points in the paint. The bench scored 19-points, and their largest lead of the game was 6-points at the 07:57 mark in the second quarter. HCC’s women only shot 28.8% from the floor.

The Scottie men started fast and lead by 13-points at the half, 42-29. They outscored LCCC in the second half as well to secure the 16-point victory, 76-60. HCC’s men scored 42-points in the paint, 22-points off turnovers, and their bench scored 15-points. Highland’s largest lead of the game was 23-points at the 07:54 mark in the second half.

The Scottie women were led by Garneisha Love with 14-points and 6-rebounds. Courtney Davis added 7-points and 4-rebounds.

Jayla Smith lead Labette County Community College with 19-points and 3-rebounds.

The Scottie men had two players in double figures. Greg Moore led the way with 26-points and 5-rebounds. Chris Flippin had a huge night with a double-double. He scored 22-points and grabbed 18-rebounds.

Kamryn Edwards led the way for LCCC with 21-points.
