U.S. Representative Tracey Mann hosted the fourth annual Congressional Military Academy Nomination Day in Abilene, Kansas. As a representative for Kansas' Big First District, Rep. Mann is responsible for nominating students to four of the five U.S. service academies.
The event was held at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum, where interviews were conducted with potential nominees. "One of my greatest honors in Congress is nominating students from the Big First to attend our nation’s service academies,” said Rep. Mann. “The students we met represent the best of Kansas, and I am grateful for their desire to serve our country and grow into the next generation of military leaders."
Rep. Mann expressed appreciation for hosting the selection committee in President Dwight D. Eisenhower's hometown and thanked them for their expertise during the selection process.
The panel included notable figures such as Mary Eisenhower, AJ Kuhle, Mark Claussen, Michael Utz, and MSG (Ret.) Joshua Sandlin—all with significant military or related experience.
Eight high school students applied through Rep. Mann's office for a nomination this year. The panel will soon notify those selected for these competitive nominations.
Rep. Mann has previously served on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs and remains a strong advocate for U.S. military service members.
