U.S. Representative Tracey Mann, representing Kansas's 1st District, voted in favor of advancing the Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), also known as S. 4367. The legislation aims to enhance various elements of the United States' resources infrastructure, such as ports and harbors, inland waterway navigation, and flood and storm protection.

Rep. Mann played a role in incorporating specific provisions for Kansas into the bill. These include support for the Manhattan levee project, authorization for a study on replenishing the Ogallala Aquifer, and an amendment to storage contracts for Milford Lake and Perry Lake that could save Kansans nearly $41 million in interest payments.

Following the vote, Rep. Mann stated: “The Water Resources Development Act delivers for the Big First District. It improves our communities by putting taxpayer dollars in places where we can see a return in our own backyards.” He highlighted key projects supported by WRDA, emphasizing its significance for Kansas: "WRDA 2024 is a win for Kansas."

The House of Representatives passed the WRDA with a vote of 399-18. The next step is consideration by the U.S. Senate before it can be sent to the President to be enacted.

Rep. Mann serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
