U.S. Representative Tracey Mann of Kansas has cast a vote in favor of the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025. This legislation, which aims to enhance the lives of American service members and their families, was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives with a vote count of 281-140.

Rep. Mann issued a statement following the passage, emphasizing the importance of supporting military personnel: “The price of freedom is not free, and we should support the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect those freedoms,” said Rep. Mann. “This NDAA makes much-needed investments to improve the lives of our service members at Fort Riley and around the globe, deploys resources to secure our southern border, deters Communist China, removes inefficiency and far-left policies at the Department of Defense, and equips our military to defend the United States of America. I am proud to stand with our military. God bless our troops.”

Key provisions in this version of the NDAA include a 4.5% pay raise for service members and a 14.5% increase for junior enlisted personnel. It also prohibits taxpayer-funded gender-affirming medical treatments for children and allows deployment of the National Guard to address issues at the southern border.

The act supports cooperative missile defense initiatives between the U.S. and Israel while aiming to save taxpayers $31 billion through cuts in inefficient programs and outdated weapons systems. Additionally, it seeks to combat foreign adversaries such as China, Iran, Russia, as well as terrorist organizations.

Following its approval by the House, this version of the NDAA will proceed to the U.S. Senate for further examination before being presented to the President for signing into law.
