U.S. Representative Tracey Mann of Kansas' 1st District has cast his vote in favor of H.R. 26, the Protecting American Energy Production Act. The legislation, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives with a vote count of 226-188, aims to prevent any federal bans on hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking. It also seeks to restrict future presidents from prohibiting fracking without congressional approval.

Rep. Mann expressed his views following the vote: "America needs a robust energy strategy that prioritizes renewable energy, fossil fuels, natural gas, and oil, not Green New Deal policies that pick and choose winners and losers for the sake of pleasing a radical base.” He further stated his support for the bill by saying, “I voted for the Protecting American Energy Production Act to promote America's energy independence and defend our energy supply from federal overregulation. When energy costs are handcuffing American families, we need to provide solutions, not more anti-fossil fuel policies that weaken our energy self-reliance and U.S. national security.”

The bill is now set to move to the U.S. Senate for further deliberation.
