Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann, who chairs the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry, expressed his support for President Trump and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. They have introduced a five-step plan to address the Highly-Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak and rising egg prices.
Mann criticized the previous administration's handling of the situation: “When President Biden botched his response to the HPAI problem, he also lost the trust of our trading partners, forced American families to pay more for eggs and other goods at the grocery store, and made America less safe.”
He praised Trump and Rollins for their new approach: “President Trump and Secretary Rollins are providing a new direction in their decisive actions to provide overdue relief for America’s poultry and dairy producers and all consumers."
Mann highlighted his past efforts to emphasize preventive measures over regulatory actions under the Biden Administration. "For years, I underscored to the Biden Administration the importance of investing in animal health research and allocating resources to outbreak prevention rather than outbreak control," Mann stated.
As a representative from a district known for its contributions to animal health research, Mann expressed confidence in Trump's strategy. "As the representative in Congress for part of the animal health corridor... I am confident in President Trump’s direction to protect our food supply and limit animal disease outbreaks. This is the type of leadership America deserves,” he concluded.
