U.S. Representative Tracey Mann of Kansas has voted in favor of H.R. 1968, the Full Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025. The bill passed narrowly in the U.S. House of Representatives with a vote count of 217-213. It aims to fund the federal government through September 30 while implementing spending reductions and freezes for six months.
Representative Mann issued a statement following the vote, highlighting the mandate given by Americans to implement President Trump's agenda. "On November 5, 2024, 77 million Americans gave Washington, D.C. a mandate to implement President Trump’s agenda, cut wasteful, fraudulent, and abusive federal spending, and restore common sense to the nation’s capital," said Rep. Mann.
He emphasized that a government shutdown should not detract from President Trump's efforts to address issues left by the previous administration. "As President Trump works tirelessly to clean up the mess left behind by the Biden-Harris Administration, we cannot let a theatrical government shutdown distract from the implementation of his agenda."
The funding approved by the House is intended to secure national borders, support veterans, provide military flexibility for homeland protection, and continue advancing policies aligned with those that led to Trump's election victory.
Rep. Mann expressed hope for swift action from the Senate on this matter and urged Congress to return to regular order by passing individual appropriations bills: "I am hopeful the Senate will act swiftly to keep the government open and continue to urge Congress to return to regular order and pass 12 individual appropriations bills to get our fiscal house back on track."
The bill now moves forward for consideration in the U.S. Senate.
