U.S. Representative Tracey Mann from Kansas has cast his vote in support of the advancement of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, identified as H.R. 22. If enacted, this bill will amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, necessitating proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration in federal elections.

During the announcement, Rep. Mann emphasized the importance of election integrity for the United States. "Integrity in our elections is the bedrock of our democracy and Americans deserve to know that our elections are safe and secure," said Rep. Mann. He expressed concern over immigration issues, attributing part of the problem to President Biden’s policies. "After President Biden refused to enforce the law at our borders, the least Congress should do is pass measures that strengthen our nation's election security and prevent illegal immigrants from voting. It should not be controversial, only U.S. citizens should vote in U.S. elections. Period. These are the commonsense policies America voted for in November, and I was proud to advance this bill."

The bill secured approval in the U.S. House of Representatives with a narrow vote margin of 220 to 208. The SAVE Act will proceed to the U.S. Senate for additional consideration. This legislative push follows Rep. Mann’s earlier support for the measure in July 2024.
