U.S. Representative Tracey Mann from Kansas has voted to advance the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee's budget reconciliation proposal. This proposal aims to provide significant funding for the U.S. Coast Guard, enhance the nation's air traffic control system, and reduce federal spending by rescinding certain programs initiated during President Biden's administration.
Representative Mann expressed his support for the proposal, stating: "Kansans in the Big First District sent me to Washington, D.C. to help President Trump reduce wasteful spending, make America safe again, and protect our way of life in rural America." He emphasized that the reconciliation proposal aligns with Republican priorities by empowering the U.S. Coast Guard to strengthen national security and investing in modernizing air traffic control systems.
The proposal includes an investment of over $21 billion in U.S. Coast Guard missions aimed at curbing illegal drug trafficking and unauthorized migration across maritime borders. Additionally, it allocates $12.5 billion to the Federal Aviation Administration for upgrading air traffic control technology and infrastructure.
Moreover, the plan seeks to rescind unobligated funds and eliminate certain Biden-era programs estimated to cost more than $4 billion. It also addresses Highway Trust Fund inequities by ensuring that electric vehicle and hybrid users contribute a user fee into the fund.
Following its advancement, the budget reconciliation proposal will proceed to the House Rules Committee for further consideration.
