Ahead of two votes in the U.S. House of Representatives condemning antisemitism, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) addressed the House floor to speak against the rise in antisemitic attacks across the United States. He also reiterated his support for Israel's right to defend itself against Hamas terrorism.
In his prepared remarks, Rep. Mann stated: "Mr. Speaker, after decades of pledging 'Never Again', we are watching the vile presence of antisemitism rear its ugly head once again." He referred to a recent incident in Washington D.C., where two staffers from the Embassy of Israel, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were murdered. Milgrim was noted as being a Kansan and a University of Kansas graduate.
Rep. Mann also mentioned an attack at a pro-Israel demonstration in Colorado where a Hamas sympathizer injured more than a dozen people with Molotov cocktails while shouting "Free Palestine."
He expressed grief over these events, saying: "Audrey and I are deeply grieved by these senseless antisemitic terror attacks and we continue to lift up the victims, their family, and loved ones in prayer."
Mann emphasized the importance of unwavering support for Israel and called for clear condemnation of terrorism and antisemitism: "Now is not the time to waver in our commitment to Israel or the protection of the humanity of our Jewish neighbors around the world... We must condemn terrorism, we must condemn antisemitism, and we must call it out for what it is—pure evil."
He concluded with a strong statement on maintaining support for Israel: "Our support for Israel must never waver, and our response to antisemitism must always be clear and immediate."
