The Clay County Highway Department is taking applications for the following position:

Equipment Operator (Operator II) (3 positions open)

Duties/Responsibilities:

Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including, Dump Trucks, front-end loaders, excavators, or grade tractors.

Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites

Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift. Performs routine maintenance and repairs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities, Ability to follow instructions

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.

Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends, when necessary. Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains. Must be able to lift 25+ pounds at a time.

Prefer a current CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or the ability and willingness to obtain one within 90 days of employment, with in house schooling and a 24-month employment contract. Must agree to take a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.

Position is full-time with fringe benefits.
