Women Win, Men Fall On The Road Against KCKCC

On Wednesday, Jan. 25, Highland Community College men's and women's basketball teams traveled to Kansas City, Kansas for a match up against Kansas City Kansas Community College.

The Scottie women trailed by five at the half, 25-30, before outscoring KCKCC 40-27 in the second half to earn a 64-57 victory. HCC's women scored 30-points in the paint, had 17-points off turnovers and their bench added 13-points. Their largest lead of the game was 7-points at the 09:30 mark in the fourth quarter. 

The Scottie men lead at the half by 1-point, 35-34. In the second half, HCC's men were outscored 46-31, which resulted in a 14-point loss, 66-80. Highland scored 40-points in the paint, 22-points off turnovers and their bench added 22-points. Their largest lead of the game was 6-points in the first half at the 14:34 mark.

The Scottie women had two players in double figures. Kenadi Rising lead the way with 20-points, 4-rebounds and 4-blocks. Brandi Dunn had 14-points, 6-rebounds and 5-steals.

Jada Johnson lead Kansas City Kansas Community College with 15-points and 5-rebounds.

The Scottie men had three players in double figures. Chris Flippin had 18-points and 8-rebounds, and Greg Moore and Tyree Green each had 10-points.

Jeremiah Stanton lead the all scorers with 20-points for KCKCC.

Highland Community College men's and women's basketball teams are on the road Saturday, Jan. 28, to take on Johnson County Community College. The Scottie women play at 2:30 p.m. The Scottie men take the floor at 4:00 p.m.
