DOWNERS GROVE, ILL. – The Foundation for the Restoration of America (FFROA) awarded a $2,000 scholarship to St. Mary’s College student Loretta Lopez following her completion of the Constitutional Study Scholarship Program.
From Belvue, Kansas, Lopez is pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts from St. Mary’s College and is on track to graduate in the Spring of 2026.
Lopez said that the Founders’ principles “along with a lucidly realistic understanding of human nature, the Framers drafted the Constitution to create a system of government that both embodied their beliefs and preserved them through time -- a work of extraordinary human genius.”
Lopez is also a fellow at Benedictine College’s Center for Constitutional Liberty where she takes courses on political philosophy and learns from experts in law, history, and politics.
“Staying involved with the Center will help me become more learned in the principles of American politics, enabling me to promote freedom with vigor and knowledge,” she said.
The Foundation’s Executive Director Christine Altenberger shared her excitement about the scholarship program and the impressive student scholarship recipients like Lopez.
“Loretta is a remarkable young woman. She’s passionate, intelligent, and involved in her local political arena – a great example of an informed American citizen. We’re proud to support her as she continues her education,” Altenberger said.
