DOWNERS GROVE, ILL. – The Foundation for the Restoration of America (FFROA) awarded a $2,000 scholarship to St. Mary’s College student Renee Lopez following her completion of the Constitutional Study Scholarship Program.

From Belvue, Kansas, Lopez is pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts from St. Mary’s College and recently started as a freshman.

Lopez said she learned a lot about the U.S. Constitution and mindset of the framers from the courses provided through Hillsdale College.

Upon further reflection, she said “The Founding Fathers show a depth of wisdom and understanding about the human condition and its unchanging nature. They formed the Constitution with the knowledge that men are both good and evil, and set guidelines in place to encourage the formation of good individuals.”

Along with staying engaged herself, Lopez shared that she will use this education to encourage her peers “to vote and have some interest, or at least concern, for our representation.”

The Foundation’s Executive Director Christine Altenberger shared her excitement about the scholarship program and the impressive student scholarship recipients like Lopez.

“We were blessed that both Renee and her sister Loretta were able to complete the Constitutional Study Scholarship Program,” Altenberger said. “Renee has a bright future ahead of her, and we’re thrilled to be able to reward her hard work with this scholarship to help become a more informed and engaged citizen of the United States.”
