Women and Men Both Fall To Johnson County Community College

On Saturday, Jan. 28, Highland Community College men's and women's basketball teams traveled to Overland Park, Kansas to take on Johnson County Community College.

The Scottie women trailed early in the contest. At the end of the first quarter, they were down by 21-points, 7-28. HCC's women scored 17-points in the second quarter and trailed at the half, 24-47. The Scottie women slowed down JCCC in the second half but couldn't overcome a big halftime deficit losing, 55-83. HCC's women scored 22-points in the paint, and their bench added 12-points.

The Scottie men trailed by 25-points at the half, 21-46. They outscored JCCC in the second half, 35-31, but it wasn't enough to secure a win. HCC's men lost the contest, 56-77. Highland scored 34-points in the paint, and their bench scored 17-points.

The Scottie women had two players in double figures. Leading the way was Courtney Davis with 16-points and 4-rebounds. Kenadi Rising had 10-points and 4-rebounds.

Mackenzie Hart led Johnson County Community College and all scorers with 25-points and 6-rebounds.

The Scottie men had two players in double figures. Chris Flippin led the way and had a double-double scoring 14-points and grabbing 12-rebounds. Tosh Lyons had 10-points for the Scotties.

Tymer Jackson led all scorers and JCCC with 22-points and 5-rebounds.
