U.S. Representative Tracey Mann, together with Representatives Jodey Arrington and August Pfluger, have introduced a Congressional Review Act joint resolution of disapproval to nullify the Biden Administration's final rule on oil and natural gas methane emissions regulations. The rule, recently finalized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), mandates energy producers to report methane emissions using third-party monitoring technology under the newly established Super-Emitter Program.

Representative Mann expressed his concerns about the impact of the rule, stating, "Americans are paying for President Biden’s failed energy policies. This rule will crush energy producers and consumers alike." He emphasized the need to fight against federal red-tape that jeopardizes the economy, energy independence, and national security.

Representative Pfluger criticized the Methane Rule for imposing excessive restrictions on energy producers, particularly in regions like the Permian Basin. He highlighted the potential cost implications for Americans already facing high energy costs and inflation, noting, "The President should be promoting energy independence to lower costs and strengthen our national security."

Representative Arrington echoed his colleagues' sentiments, describing President Biden's approach to domestic energy production as an assault on the economy and national security. He criticized the Methane Rule as burdensome and warned of its potential to increase energy prices, endanger jobs, and empower foreign adversaries.

The new rule requires energy producers, including small businesses, to invest in costly technology to comply with monitoring methane leaks and phase out natural gas flaring. Representative Mann, who has been a vocal advocate for energy independence, previously urged the EPA Administrator to withdraw the rule and continues to champion efforts to reduce regulatory burdens and support American energy production.

The joint resolution of disapproval aims to reverse the burdensome regulations imposed by the Methane Rule and prioritize strengthening American energy production.
