U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01), along with U.S. Senators Roger Marshall (R-KS) and Jerry Moran (R-KS), toured the storm damage in Westmoreland, Kansas following a devastating tornado that hit the community on Tuesday evening. The violent storm resulted in the destruction of 22 homes and one fatality.

The politicians were accompanied by officials from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office and Jennifer Merrow, Pottawatomie County Emergency Management Director. Following their visit, they issued statements expressing their condolences and support for the affected community.

“Audrey and I are continuing to pray for the Westmoreland community as they mourn the loss of a dear friend and neighbor and recover from Tuesday’s storms,” said Rep. Mann. “We are grateful for the volunteers and first responders who swiftly moved to assist the community in the aftermath of this tragedy. My staff and I will continue to work with local officials as they assess the damage to ensure we offer any support the community needs. We are grieving for all those impacted by this week’s storms and stand ready to provide assistance to anyone who may need help from a federal agency.”

“First and foremost, Kansans are mourning the loss of Ann Miller, and our hearts go out to her family,” said Senator Marshall. “I can’t give enough admiration to the community of Westmoreland and surrounding areas for coming together in this time of tragedy to help this community heal. Thank you to the volunteers who are spending day-in-and-day-out cleaning up the debris and replenishing supplies to families who have lost all of their belongings. Today I saw the heart and soul of Westmoreland, this community will come back from this tragedy and be stronger than ever.”

Farmers and ranchers affected by natural disasters can seek assistance from their local U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency office.
