U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted to advance H.R. 8998, the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2025. The bill passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 210-205 and aims to reduce and reprioritize federal spending while promoting American energy independence, strengthening U.S. national security, and rolling back regulations that Mann claims harm Kansans.

“I have continuously urged Congress to pass funding bills that reduce our federal spending while putting dollars in places where taxpayers can see a higher return on them,” said Rep. Mann. “This legislation unleashes American energy production while rolling back burdensome regulations like the Biden-Harris Administration’s Lesser Prairie-Chicken rule that ignores science and handcuffs hardworking Kansans. It also includes funding for improvements and infrastructure repairs at tribal colleges like Haskell Indian Nations University that have long been overlooked by the federal government. This bill is a win for the Big First, and I am proud to support its passage.”

The Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2025 includes several key provisions:

- Resumes quarterly onshore oil and gas lease sales

- Prohibits the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from imposing the methane fee on oil and gas producers

- Rolls back regulations on chemical and pesticide manufacturers that threaten American competitiveness

- Limits abuse of the Endangered Species Act

The bill is the fifth appropriations package passed in the U.S. House of Representatives for fiscal year 2025 and will now be sent to the U.S. Senate for further review.
